Hello All -

I am curious if anyone has experience taking off with flap settings other than the 0 or 25 referenced in the POH? POH warns about possibly being airborne below Vmc at flaps 25 and also risk of wheelbarrowing. What about a compromise for shorter runways with intermediate flap settings - one notch10 degrees instead of two?

Good questions. POH says 25 degrees for short fields. But to your point, that feels "risky" in the event of an engine failure upon takeoff. 10 feels like a better compromise, but I can't say I've tried it. My guess is 10 degrees doesn't do very much with our type of flaps. Flip side, if you lost an engine it may not "hurt" as much.

Someone else who has operated a Seneca from short strips please chime in.

Makes sense - I took off with 10 degrees yesterday, and it was a non-event. I do not, however, have enough time in type yet to know the difference.
